SO, SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL FOOD SAFETY EDUCATIO MONTH AND DURING THIS MONTH THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TEAM ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE IN PREVENTING FOOD OR AN ILLNESS, FOOD POISONING BY ENGAGING IN BETTER FOOD PRACTICES. THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL ESTIMATES 48 MILLION CASES OF FOODBORNE ILLNESS ANNUALLY WHICH EQUATES TO APPROXIMATELY ONE IN SIX PEOPLE EVERY YEAR. THESE ILLNESSES RESULT IN AN ESTIMATED 128,000 HOSPITALIZATIONS AND 3000 DEATHS ANNUALLY FOLLOWING SIMPLE FOOD SAFETY TIPS CAN LOWER YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING SICK. ROWLETT'S ENVIRONMENT HEALTH TEAM IS COMMITTED TO TEXTING THE PUBLIC HEALTH BY DILIGENTLY IMPROVING FOOD SAFETY IN THE FOOD ESTABLISHMENT BUT ALSO IN EVENTS WHERE FOOD IS SERVED TO THE PUBLIC. THE CITY'S ENVIRONMENTAL FOOD SPECIALS ARE HIGHLY VISIBLE IN THE FOOD ESTABLISHMENT HAS BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR FOOD 50 COMPLIANCE WHILE FOSTERING MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS WITH THESE ESTABLISHMENTS. THE HS TEAM REMAINS UP-TO-DATE ON CHANGES IN FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL REGULATIONS AND CONDUCTS 400 FOOD ESTABLISHMENT INSPECTIONS EVERY YEAR. HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU HAVE TO DO THAT?

I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE SOME INPUT ON THE 2022 AD VALOREM TAX RATES SCHEDULED TO BE ADOPTED ON THE SEPTEMBER 21 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING THE COUNCIL IS PROPOSING TO EITHER OVER OR RAISE THE TAX RATE WHICH SOUNDED GOOD AS I REALIZE THAT INCREASE VALUATIN IN THE APPRAISED DISTRICT WILL RESULT IN MOST CITIZENS CITY TAXES GO UP EVEN IF THE RATE STAYS THE SAME. ACCORDING TO THE CITY BUDGET DOCUMENT THE TOTAL TAX REVENUE FOR THE CITY WILL BE OVER 2.5 MILLION MORE THAN IN LAST YEAR'S AJIT PIT THE 2.3 MILLION STATED IN THE REQUIRED NOTICE AT THE FRONT OF THE BUDGET PLUS IN THE ADDITIONAL PTUNE OF 50,000 DISCUSSED IN RE ON PAGE 29 AS AN ADDENDUM AFTER THE CERTIFIED PROPERTY VALUES WERE RECEIVED. THAT SLIGHTLY 1 MILLION OVER THAT IS FROM NEW PROPERTY AND THEIR MEANING 1.5 MILLION PRESENTS AN INCREASE IN THE TAX BILL WHICH I BELIEVE IS ALREADY EXCESSIVE. PAGE 31 INDICATES THE CITY WILL RECEIVE 5.3+ MILLION IN 2022 AND ONLY A BIT OVER 1.55 MILLION IN COMMERCIAL PROPERTY TAX PAIDIS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO BEAR THE BRUNT OF THE TAX BURDEN. THIS SOME HOPE THAT IT WILL CHANGE WHEN THE SAPPHIRE BAY AND OTHER PROPOSED DEVELOPMENTS COME TO FRUITION BUT RIGHT NOW IT FALLS ON THE SHOULDERS OF THE RESIDENCE FOR THE CITY ALSO RECEIVES SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY TAXES, SALES TAX, FRANCHISE FEES LICENSE AND OTHER FEES AND CHANGES ABOVE THE PROJECTIONS OF THE 2021 ADOPTED BUDGET FOR THE CITY DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE HEADING FOR A BUDGETARY SHORTFALL. PLEASE ARE MEMBER THERE ARE MANY IN THE CITY WHO ARE STILL IN THE PROCESS OF RECOVERING FROM JOB LOSSES AND BUSINESS SETBACKS RELATED TO LAST YEAR'S SHUTDOWN AND RESTRICTIONS. PROPERTY TAXES WILL BE HIGHER PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND AS YOU VOTE ON THIS TAX RATE. THE STATE OR NOTIFICATION ON PAGE 35 OF THE BUDGET DOCUMENT SHOWS A PROPOSED EXPANSE OF DIRECTLY EARNED DIRECTLY INFLUENCE OUTCOMES OF LEGISLATION GOOD THIS IS TROUBLING TO ME GIVEN THE COMMENTS ON PAGE 21 OF THE DOCUMENT THAT PROVES STATE LEGISLATION DESIGNED TO PERFECT CITIZENS INTEREST AS A TAX ON LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. I DON'T LEAVE THE CITY SHOULD BE SPENDING TAXPAYER MONEY TO FUND OPPOSITIONS TO LEGISLATION THAT LED SOME OF THE CITIZENS SUPPORT. TOWARDS THE END I SUPPORT THE PROPOSED ADDITION OF FOUR POLICE OFFICERS AND A DETENTION OFFICER WITH THE ADDITION OF FIREFIGHTERS. ONE IS ONE REALLY ENOUGH?
