BUT, THE COMMENTS AND SUPPORT AND THINGS THAT I'VE GOTTEN FROM ALL OVER THE CITY, CHIEF MILLER REFERRED TO IT AS TEAM KILGORE, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE JAIL, THE COURT STAFF, EVERYWHERE, PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER SENDING ME EMAILS AND TALKING TO PEOPLE, CHRIS CAZAR SENDING OUT EMAILS TO VARIOUS PEOPLE. THERE WAS JUST SO MUCH SUPPORT AND I COULDN'T BEGIN TO NAME ALL THE PEOPLE. AND I'VE JUST BEEN VERY HUMBLED BY IT.

BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I WAS ASKED BY COUNCILMAN GRUBISICH IF I COULD POSSIBLY STEP IN AND TAKE OVER THE COURT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, AND, MATT WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME DOWN HERE, LOR, I'M GOING TO CHANGE THE AGENDA AND MAKE A PRESENTATION, WHICH IS NOT ON THE AGENDA, I DON'T THINK. BUT, MATT ASKED ME IF I COULD HOLD DOWN THE FORT A BIT, MAY BE 30-60 DAYS. THAT WAS 189 DAYS AGO. NOT THAT ANYONE'S COUNTING. WE HAVE A FEW MISSING, BUT THE COURT STAFF IS UNBELIEVABLE. I ENJOY WORKING WITH THEM AND THEY

YOU KNOW, AND IT'S JUST, IT'S, SHE'S THAT PREVERBIAL RIGHT-HAND ASSISTANT THAT EVERYONE DREAMS OF HAVING. AND MARICELLA. WHEN YOU COME INTO THE COURT, TO PAY YOUR FINE, OR TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR SOMETHING OR TO ASK QUESTIONS, THOSE ARE THE FOLKS THAT YOU TALK TO. AND THOSE ARE THE SMILING FACES THAT YOU TALK TO AND THEY DO A WONDERFUL JOB OF IT. MELODY, OUR NEWEST EMPLOYEE GETS TO START HER DAY OUT WITH THE JAIL. SHE'S THE MAGISTRATE'S CLERK, SHE PROCESSES AND ACCOMPANIES ME TO MAGISTRATE COURT. AND MARY MARGARET IS NOT HERE, SHE'S OUR JUVENILE CASE MANAGER. WE HAVE A NUMBER OF MARSHALS, AND IT'S THE ONLY JOB THAT I KNOW OF THAT COMES WITH A BODY GUARD FOR PROTECTION. THEY MAKE IT WORK. AND I JUST ENJOY EVERYDAY

WORKING WITH THEM. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THAT. SO, IT'S A HARD WORKING COURT, JUST FOR CONTEXT, YOU'LL HEAR MORE BEEN MUNICIPAL COURTS IN JUST A MINUTE, MORE PEOPLE APPEAR BEFORE MUNICIPAL COURTS THAN ALL OUR COURTS COMBINED. THE CITY OF ROWLETT TO BE SPECIFIC, LAST FISCAL YEAR WE HAD 18400 CASES.

HERE. THAT IS A LOT OF WORK, THAT'S A LOT OF PAPERWORK AND IT TAKES A LOT OF EFFICIENCY TO MAKE THAT WORK. SO, THERE'S JUST, TOO MANY PEOPLE TO THANK. UM, BUT, I'M VERY PLEASED. IT'S A GREAT GROUP TO WORK WITH, AND I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.

HISTORICALLY, MUNICIPAL COURTS WEEK IS PROCLAIMED THE FIRST FULL WEEK OF NOVEMBER EACH YEAR. THE WEEK GIVES CITY COUNCILS ACROSS TEXAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANT WORK OF MUNICIPAL COURTS AND THE COURT EMPLOYEES WHO WORK TIRELESSLY PROMOTING PUBLIC CONFIDENCE IN THE INTEGRITY AND IMPARTIALITY OF THE JUDICIARY. THE ROWLETT MUNICIPAL COURT IS A STATE COURT. WHEREAS THE PROCEDURES OF THE ROWLETT MUNICIPAL COURT ARE SET FORTH IN THE CRIMINAL PROCEDURES OF THE STATE OF TEXAS. IS KENNETH WILLIAMS AND I'M THE PRESIDENT OF THE SESENIOR ADVISY BOARD WE'RE HERE TONIGHT TO HONOR THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD IN ORDER TO SUPSUPPORT ALZHEIMER'S LIGHT OF THE WORLD IN TEAL IS AN ANNUAL AWARENESS PROGRAM THAT BEGAN IN 2002 AND HELD IN NOVEMBER AS PART OF ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS MONTH. PEOPLE IN PLACES AROUND THE WORLD GO TEAL TO RAISE AWARENESS AND SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AFFECTED BY ALZHEIMER'S.

THE CITY OF ROWLETT WILL JOINERY 340 LANDMARKS AROUND THE WORLD TO OBSERVE ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS MONTH BY RAISING AWARENESS TO THE DISEASE, THE ALZHEIMER'S FOUNDATION HOPES TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE FIGHT AGAINST THE DISEASE BY LIGHTING LANDMARKS AROUND THE WORLD IN THE COLOR TEAL WHICH IS THE ORGANIZATION ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS COLOR. WITH THAT SAID, I'LL READ THE PROCLAMATION.

>> WHEREAS, THE U.S. CENTERS FOR DISDISEASE CONTROL REPORTS MANY AS 6.2 MILLION AMERICANS IS AFFECTED WITH ALZHEIMER'S.

ALZHEIMER'S DECEASE IS A DEVASTATING DISEASE THAT AFFECTS THE CELLS OF THE BRAIN AND IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF SEVERE INTELLECTUAL IMPAIRMENT OF OLDER INDIVIDUALS. AND WHEREAS ALZHEIMER'S IS ONE OF THE TOP 10 LEADING CAUSES OF DEATH IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE 5TH LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN ADULTS AGED 65 OR MORE. THE DISEASE INVOLVES PARTS OF THE BRAIN THAT CONTROL THOUGHT, MEMORY, LANGUAGE, AND CAN SERIOUSLY AFFECT A PERSON'S ABILITY TO CARRY OUT DAILY ACTIVITIES. THE EMOTIONAL, FINANCIAL, AND SOCIAL CONSEQUENCES OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE TAKES A TOLL ON IT'S VICTIM'S FAMILIES AND FRIENDS.

AND, WHEREAS THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH THE DISEASE DOUBLES EVERY FIVE YEARS BEYOND AGE 65, THIS NUMBER IS PROJECTED TO NEARLY TRIPLE TO (1) 400-0000 PEOPLE BY 2060. EACH DAY BRINGS NEW CHALLENGES FOR CAREGIVERS AND AS THE DISEASE GETS WORSE, PEOPLE LIVING WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE OFTEN NEED MORE INTENSIVE CARE. AND WHEREAS WE DRIVE TO RAISE AWARENESS OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND THE EFFECTS ON INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES AND THE PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THEM. LIGHT THE WORLD IN TEAL IS AN ANNUAL AWARENESS PROGRAM THAT BEGAN IN 2002, SPONSORED BY THE ALZHEIMER'S FOUNDATION IN AMERICA, HELD IN THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER.
